The Carolina Reaper is having a bit of a moment right now. While we have no idea what could have spawned this obsession with the world’s spiciest chili pepper, in recent days, weeks, and months a number of maniacs have crawled out of the woodwork, attempting to ingest Smokin’ Ed Currie’s diabolical creation. Though the Reaper clocks in at around 2.2 million units on the Scoville scale—making it the spiciest chili pepper on the planet—people insist on ingesting this capsaicin-packed fruit in new, mind-boggling ways.
Last week, a YouTube personality named Marlin Ramsey Chan and his cousin decided to take a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos—a snack that’s already been banned in certain school for scorching children’s throats—and coat the cheese puffs in a powder made from Carolina Reapers, as well as Scorpion peppers, 7 Pot Doughla, and Caribbean blend pepper seeds.
According to Foodbeast, the devilish blend boasts a total nearly 5.5 million units on the Scoville scale, with the cousins also adding a bunch of paprika, chili powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes from their cupboard.
While the cousins were at least smart enough not to smoke the powder through a bong—like some other unhinged individuals online—unsurprisingly, a lot of screaming and puking laid in their very immediate future.
