Check Out the Massive, 350-Pound Grouper Fish This NBA Player Just Caught

Wilson Chandler has been playing in the NBA for nearly a decade, first with the New York Knicks, and then with the Denver Nuggets. In that time, the 29-year-old forward has been a solid role-player, frequently finding himself in the running to win the league’s coveted Sixth Man of the Year Award. Still, last year Chandler was sidelined for the majority of the season after undergoing hip surgery.

But if the Michigan-raised ballplayer ever decides to throw in the towel and retire, it looks like he may enjoy a second career in big-game sport fishing. Earlier this month, Chandler went out on the water with the YouTube fishing channel BlacktipH, and caught himself an unbelievable, 350-pound grouper fish.

Over the weekend, Chandler posted videos to Instagram detailing the Ahabian battle he fought with his grouper.

“That is a real big fish,” Chandler's comrades can be heard saying in the clip. “Wilson Chandler, everybody!”

While Chandler faired well in open seas (according to National Geographic, the Atlantic Goliath grouper can weight up to 800 pounds), not all professional athletes get so lucky out on the water. Earlier this summer, former NFL player Warren Sapp had his arm gouged by a shark while going lobster hunting in the Florida Keys.
