Dear God, please make it stop. First there was the Doritos Locos Taco, then there was the Beefy Fritos Burrito, and then, finally, there was the Beefy Cheddar Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider. If history has taught us anything, it’s that Taco Bell simply cannot help but put cheap, corn meal snacks and artificial nacho cheese powder in its products.
And now, it seems the inevitable has finally happened. According to Foodbeast, Taco Bell will be testing a new “Cheetos Burritos” in August. The latest fast-food/snack-food mash-up will be available for just $1 and feature seasoned meat, buttery rice, cheese sauce, and, of course, Cheetos.
While the new item marks the first time Taco Bell has incorporated Cheetos into its US menu (the Beefy Cheddar Cheetos Crunchwrap Sliders are only available in Canada), the Tex-Mex chain isn’t the first fast-food giant to dream up this unholy union.
Last month, Burger King unveiled its new “Mac 'n Cheetos”—bits of deep-fried macaroni and cheese battered with Cheetos dust. Burger King also recently introduced a “Whopperrito,” another sign that the fast-food war between the two chains is heating up.
Let’s hope Burger King and Taco Bell can call a truce before someone really gets hurt.
