Late Thursday night, after years of mounting anticipation, Drake’s fourth studio album, VIEWS, finally dropped via Apple Music. And ever since we heard the line “Why you gotta fight with me at Cheesecake? You know I love to go there,” we knew it was only a matter of time before Cheesecake Factory tried to capitalize on its 15 minutes of fame with an underwhelming, semi-clever meme.
While Drake fans will likely debate the merits and faults of VIEWS for weeks to come, the verdict is back on Cheesecake Factory’s tweet: It’s a brick.
Memes of the VIEWS album art have been circulating online for days now. But the restaurant chain chose to Photoshop a helicopter airlifting a Cheesecake Factory to-go box (well, we think it's a to-go box; it's hard to tell) to Drake's perch on the CN Tower in Toronto.
Drake is no stranger to corporate brands co-opting his status as a meme master. During the rapper’s public feud with Meek Mill last year, Whataburger went all in on beef tweets.
Ultimately, Cheesecake Factory’s Drake tweet may fall short of awe-inspiring, but at least it’s not as bad as Red Lobster’s infamous "Cheddar Bey Biscuits” whiff. If anything, our friends over at Pigeons & Planes did it best:
