You name it and New York City pretty much has it. Rainbow bagels? Check. Insane, gut-busting, gravity defying milkshakes? Check. All the 24-hour restaurants your heart desires? Also check. But if you were ever craving 3,000-calorie plates of pasta from The Cheesecake Factory’s 250-item menu, you were out of luck. That’s all about to change, however. According to Gothamist, the chain—which has achieved cult status amongst rappers and athletes—will open its first New York City location.
Most amazingly, the restaurant will not open in Times Square, New York City’s wasteland of chain restaurants (with inflated prices) and gaggles of tourists who think Sbarro’s is good New York City pizza. Instead, CF is eyeing a space once occupied by a clothing store at a mall in Elmhurst, Queens.
The chain plans to open an outpost with allegedly enough seating for 180 people inside, and another 48 outside. While this sounds like a high number of seats, it will probably do nothing to ease the hours long wait times that are standard at every location of the Cheesecake Factory.
There are few details regarding an opening date, but a spokesperson tells QNS that the chain hopes to throw open the doors this winter. That gives New York City residents about nine months to study up on the origins of chain and prep their bodies for an onslaught of Tex Mex Eggrolls, Louisiana Chicken, and Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake.
