Chewable Coffee Gummies Is the Latest Way to Get Wired

By

Getting a cup of coffee can be a struggle. You’ve either got to get up early enough to brew a pot, take the time to stop at a coffee shop, or deal with whatever mud water your employer provides. And then there’s the unstable lids, dirty Thermoses, and scalded hands.

To solve these #FirstWorldProblems, San Francisco–based Nootrobox recently introduced Go Cubes, a chewable caffeine supplement that’ll give you a jolt without the difficulties of actually handling a hot beverage when you’re barely awake.

According to Grub Street, Nootrobox debuted the edible coffee at SSXSW this year, featuring three flavors; mocha, pure drip, and latte. The gummy coffee cubes have 50mg of caffeine each, making two cubes the equivalent of one cup of coffee.

Go Cubes aren’t your regular No-Doze substitute: The gummies are made from cold-brewed coffee, with a coffee or latte flavor that finishes with a bitter, sour center. Nootrobox claims that the Go Cubes offer a smoother ride than other caffeine options, too. The company spiked the coffee cubes with L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea that is said to quell the jitters brought on by caffeine.

Sounds to us like Nootrobox is taking notes from the weed industry, transforming a beloved substance into edible form. Other have put caffeine in gum, but chewable candies seem a little more appealing.

Nootrobox has high hopes for the caffeine candy. Co-founder Michael Brandt told Buzzfeed the company plans to be “the Coca-Cola” of chewable coffee. Go Cubes sold out on Amazon Launchpad within three days, so we’d say they’re off to a good start.
