Asher Roth and Fat Tony Review Sushi From Around Los Angeles

By

Recently, Asher Roth and Houston MC Fat Tony teamed up for “Sushi,” a playful ode to raw fish and, um, ladies filled with innuendo and cheeky references to dates at Sugarfish. It’s obvious that the two artists are serious tuna-roll fiends, with plenty of eating experience under their belts.

First We Feast brought Asher and Tony together in Los Angeles for a blind sushi taste test, where we asked them to rate and review offerings from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Sugarfish, and more. Some of the sushi they sampled was fresh as hell—some not so much.

Why is finding great sushi important? As Fat Tony puts it, “Bad sushi can leave you in a deep, dark depression.” And as Anthony Bourdain once said, “The difference between good sushi and extraordinary sushi is the difference between a Prius and a Ferrari, or rural Texas and Mars. Your breath is taken away… you say to yourself: I didn’t know it could be this awesome.”

Watch the video to find out what Asher considers “the worst sushi he’s ever had,” and what Fat Tony recommends you do when you’re eating and your tongue gets tired.
