After McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook publicly shut down the possibility of a “McWhopper,” Burger King decided to come back bigger and better than ever in a burger collaboration with multiple franchises.
The fast-food giant is set to create its first-ever “Peace Day Burger” in conjunction with Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas at a pop-up restaurant in Atlanta, GA.
For one day only on September 21, the pop-up shop will distribute 1,500 Peace Day Burgers to raise money for the Peace One Day non-profit, which spreads awareness of the Peace Day holiday.
According to USA Today, the burger will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and will feature elements from BK’s Whopper, Denny’s Bacon Slamburger, Wayback’s Wayback Classic, Krystal’s cheese Krystal, and Giraffas’ Brutus.
Although the “McWhopper” may not have become a reality as people hoped, this didn’t stop the public from creating it for themselves. The senior vice president of Burger King, Fernando Machado explains, “the McWhopper has 100% become a reality for some. The public wholeheartedly embraced the campaign and thousands of DIY McWhoppers have been created, reviewed, and shared on social media.”
