Watch a Live Stream of the Last McDonald's Hamburger in Iceland

By

The last remaining McDonald’s hamburger and fries in Iceland was purchased on October 30, 2009 (1922 days ago). And now, you can watch the burger slowly decay via live stream.

The Bus Hostel Reykjavik website reports that the burger’s original owner, Hjörtur Smárason, purchased the hamburger and fries a day before the final McDonald’s closed in Iceland. He didn’t eat the burger; instead, he kept the dish on his garage shelf until a year ago when it moved into storage at the National Museum in Iceland.

Now, the burger is on display at the Bus Hostel in Reykjavik, and viewers can watch it decay (but not really because it doesn’t look like it’s decaying at all) on live camera.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: Why the heck aren’t there any McDonald’s in Iceland? After the economic crash in the country in late 2008, McDonald’s decided to close all their locations in Iceland.
