Periodic Table of Beer Styles is What Every Classroom Needs

By

Why should you be privy to the bitterness and alcohol content of beer styles? Well, if you’ve got the necessary info on types of beer, and you know you like low bitterness and want something that won’t get you tanked, you’ll know to go for a Geuze, Berliner Weiss, or Lambic.

Alternatively, if you know you like hoppy bitterness—and want something that will, essentially, get you tanked if you drink more than one—you’ll grab an Imperial IPA.

Because it’s hard to keep all this beer-style info in your brain, the people at beverage distribution company Bernick’s made a periodic table of the beer styles that are most widespread throughout the craft and domestic beer industries.

Our aim in creating this specific periodic table was to help you track what types of beer are what, and how they generally differ from one another.

Check out the key below, which includes: ABV (alcohol by volume), IBU (international bitterness unit), and OG (original gravity), as well as the recommended serving glass for each beer.

Here’s a closer look at some of the beer styles included in The Periodic Table of Beer.
