Russian photographer Daria Khoroshavina and her friend Olya have taken the idea of ‘living cooking photography’ to the next level (we’d like to think they were inspired by our GIF recipe tutorials). Kitchen Ghosts is an ongoing series of cinemagraphs for which Daria painstakingly photographs her friend Olya cooking various foods in her home kitchen in Moscow.
The GIF-like photos put static recipe shots to shame. Of the process, Khoroshavina says that she shoots everything on a tripod-mounted Canon 6D, then works her magic in AfterEffects and Photoshop to produce the beautiful cinemagraphs. She tells Creative Bloq, “The key is to find a perfect fragment and polish it to make it look seamless.”
Currently, there are four groups of cinemagraphs in the series, with more to come. Here are a handful to whet your appetite.
Vegan Borsch with Lentil
Breakfast
Pear & Walnut Strudel
Pasta with Chicken & Honey Orange Sauce
