It’s tough out there if you’re Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch. The problem is, he just wants to play football. He doesn’t have time for media, or questions about his game. At yesterday’s Super Bowl Media Day, he was the first one out—but only because the NFL threatened to fine him $500,000, according to ESPN. So he showed up, put in the league-required 5 minutes, and answered only “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” a record 29 times. You kind of have to admire him for that workaround, honestly. At least it’s a longer answer than his infamous “Yeah” press conference yielded.
Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate summed it up on Twitter:
But while some people might not find the lengths that Lynch will go to funny, maybe the problem is motivation. As the video above shows, Lynch likes Skittles and cat videos like everyone else. If you’re a dancer, you dance. If you’re a painter, you paint. If you’re a baller, you ball. You don’t spend all your time talking about what you do after you’ve done it. Just like we all learned when we were kids, you also really don’t respond well when someone tries to make you.
We kind of admire Lynch’s tenacity. He might be part of the crazy NFL circus as his career, but at the end of the day, he’s just trying to do him. and maybe kick back with some Skittles.
