Glaser’s Bake Shop, on the Upper East Side of NYC, has been run by the same family for three generations. The bakery is famous for its black and white cookies.

Herbert Glaser, a third generation baker at Glaser’s Bake Shop, tells The Village Voice,

“I think the main reason people consider them the best is because they’re fresh. They’re not made in a factory some place and shipped around, and I think that makes a difference.”

Herbert is mentoring a fourth-generation Glaser, his nephew, who may one day take over the New York City institution.
