Fast Food Employees Outraged Over Moschino's McDonald's-Inspired Collection

By

Moschino‘s new creative director, Jeremy Scott, took inspiration from McDonald’s for his debut runway collection during Milan Fashion Week 2014.

And now, the new collection has minimum wage workers outraged, reports The Daily Mail. Mia Brusendorff, a former McDonald’s worker in Indiana, tells MailOnline that she feels she is being mocked. She says,

“One knowing how it is to work at McDonald’s knows there is nothing fashionable about it. Knowing someone will pay $1,000 for clothing inspired by McDonald’s workers who earn minimum wage is a mockery.

Moschino’s Happy Meal Box-inspired red quilted leather bag—which was presented on a tray on the runway—costs $1,265 and has already sold out. The capsule collection also includes a sweater priced at $780, a T-shirt dress for $350, and an iPhone case for $78.

Lawrence Schlossman, editor at fashion blog Four Pins, has his own opinions on the clothing line:

“It’s not that I think this collection falters due to an insensitive appropriation of minimum wage jobs, but because it so blatantly proves just how limited Jeremy Scott’s talents are as a designer.

Whether or not the clothing line lacks sensitivity or creativity, celebs and the fashion industry have had no problem embracing the street style-baiting collection. Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Anna Dello Russo, and Jourdan Dunn have all worn a piece from the McDonald’s collection.

Twitter users have their own opinions on the designer wear, ranging from disapproval to “I need to buy this right now!”:
