If you fancy yourself a Sriracha fan, you better buy a plane ticket to Irwindale, California asap. Yes, world, the gates of the Huy Fong Foods Sriracha factory are open.
Huy Fong Foods owner David Tran’s Irwindale, California, factory will begin giving free tours in the next few weeks. All you need is a reservation and you’ll be granted an inside look at the recipe behind Tran’s incredibly addictive rooster sauce. Mmmm, face-melting chili fumes.
The news broke when Randy Clemens, author of The Sriracha Cookbook, posted a very special email on his blog. The email was from none other than David Tran.
After many months of transitioning from Rosemead and testing our new equipment, we are pleased to announce that we are now ready to invite visitors to our new building in Irwindale. Therefore, if you are interested in seeing how our Sriracha is made and how delicious it smells, we would cordially like to invite you, at your convenience, to see our facility during our regular office visiting hours . . . We look forward to seeing you.
Best regards,
HUY FONG FOODS, INC.
After years without marketing his product, it appears that Tran has decided to take a Willy Wonka approach to his factory. Perhaps it’s time to earn Sriracha some good press, after residents near Tran’s old factory demanded he close up shop.
If we were in California, we would already be in line, most likely doing the Sriracha chicken dance.
Tours are available from 9am to 3 pm, Mondays through Fridays. Call 626-286-8328 to make a mandatory reservation.
