Weed-Infused Beef Jerky, AKA 'Reef Jerky', Now Exists

By

With the legalization of recreational marijuana that took effect at the beginning of this year, we’ve seen retailers throughout Colorado infuse weed into everything from waffles to cotton candy in order to meet the demand for edibles.

The latest marijuana-infused snack to hit shelves? Why, “Reef Jerky” of course. This is the ultimate snack for the pot-loving carnivore.

The L.A. Times reports that the jerky is made by a Santa Cruz-based company called Badfish Extracts. The company is currently having it’s jerky tested by Santa Cruz Labs, a third party medical marijuana product testing lab. The jerky is undergoing cannabinoid tests to see how potent it is, figure out what it’s made of, and determine which ailments it will help.

Santa Cruz Labs co-founder Ian Rice posted a picture of the jerky on the company’s Instagram account calling it “Reef Jerky.” Rice told the L.A. Times, “I haven’t tasted it yet, but I’d love to get a sample.”

We can only hope that weed-infused bacon and edible Porterhouse steaks are in the works.
