Ah, the cemita—that beautiful Mexican sandwich that takes a serious appetite and massive jaw to conquer. The fabulous cemita is constructed from an oversized sesame seed roll packed with creamy avocados, panela cheese, Oaxacan string cheese, salsa, onions, and a variety of proteins. We adore cemitas from all over the country (and the bangin’ ones in Puebla, Mexico, of course). We especially love the cemita poblana at Elvirita’s in Los Angeles, and the Milanesa de Pollo (breaded and fried chicken cutlet) cemita at Taqueria Coatzingo in Queens.
There’s a great big world of fantastic cemitas out there. So if you’re looking for some lunch inspiration, get up from your desk, find the closest cemita to you, and go H.A.M.
