While breastaurants continue to pick up steam in the U.S., the Russians are moving on to a new form of vaguely fetish-inspired dining: Twin Stars, a Moscow restaurant staffed entirely by identical twins.
According to a BBC news report, the owner got the idea from “a 1960s Soviet-era film [The Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors] in which a schoolgirl crosses into an alternate world and finds her twin.”
As Foodbeast points out, though, we’re actually not entirely behind the curve on this one: There is a similar concept in NYC called Twins Restaurant that’s been open since 1994. It offers special deal for twins, triplets, and quintuplets and is, bizarrely, on the Upper East Side.
If the idea picks up more steam Stateside, we’ll have to update our #newrules of tipping to account for twin servers. They can share, right?
