If You've Ever Wanted to Eat Candy from a Toilet, Japan Has You Covered

By

There’s something in the water—the toilet water to be exact—that is causing a strange spike in stories that involve food and toilets. Recently, there has been articles on the rise of toilet cafes in Taiwan where customers sit on repurposed toilets while eating their meals out of toilet-shaped serving platters, as well as a cafe in London which was previously the site of public toilets. Then there’s the scandal of a Starbucks in Hong Kong using toilet water in all of its drinks, and even a recipe for toilet wine.

And now this: For its latest creation, a candy maker in Japan has looked to toilets for inspiration, resulting in a questionable confection dubbed Moko Moko Mokoletto. The candy itself comes packaged in a small toy-sized plastic toilet. To eat Moko Moko Mokoletto, one must pour the flavored sugar powder in mini-toilet tank and add water. The mixture froths and fills the toilet bowl, from which you can drink directly or use a small straw—just incase you’re feeling classy.

Moral of the story: Willy Wonka ain’t got shit on Japan.
