Watch Eric Andre Nearly Kill Himself to Get a Sprite Sponsorship

By

Ever since the 1990s, when Grant Hill could be seen chugging neon-green soft drinks in between Pistons practices, Sprite has basically been the go-to beverage for professional athletes. Few liquids have the power to replenish a competitor’s electrolytes quite like the combination of high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, sodium citrate, and sodium benzoate found in bottles of caffeine-free soda.

Over the years, Sprite has been able to maintain its dominance in the sports world, so it makes sense that Eric Andre—the comedian whose eponymous Adult Swim show began its fourth season this month—would want to land an endorsement deal with the brand.

In a recent sketch, Andre can be seen wobbling around New York City in a pair of roller blades, broken bones protruding from his arms and legs, as he tries desperately to find a Sprite rep to talk to.

“No, no, no, no. I don’t need 911, OK?” Andre tells a few concerned citizens. “I’m trying to get a Sprite sponsorship.”

Like all big companies armed with Twitter accounts, Sprite obeys its thirst for publicity at all times, and promptly tweeted at Andre about a possible collaboration.

Though the comedian responded, the company must have heard about Andre’s propensity for full-frontal nudity and property destruction, and ultimately fell silent.

While Sprite might be out of the picture, there's always the possibility of a ranch endorsement for Andre.
