Between pinot noir, pinot gris, and pinotage—wine can get pretty confusing.
Pop Chart Lab has just come out with a poster that demystifies the connection between every major variety of grape. The PCL team spent over a year researching the latest genetic data on wine grapes to create a 39″ x 27″ family tree that traces the ancestry of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Riesling, Chardonnay, and more grape varietals (640, to be exact). Check out the full ‘Genealogy of Wine’ map here.
Pop Chart Lab writes,
“Whether you’re an inveterate viticulturalist or an armchair oenophile, this color-coded chart will help fill in the blancs, pinpointing countries of origin and tracing the long and winding roads between hundreds of varieties of vino.”
The print is available for pre-order over at Pop Chart Lab for $38. The poster will be shipped out next Monday, November 10.
