From all that has been reported about Portland, it’s an easy city to love: food carts galore, easy transportation, and for those inclined, a healthy supply of strip clubs. Lucy Burningham’s guidebook Hop in the Saddle: A Guide to Portland’s Craft Beer Scene, by Bike extols yet two more compelling reasons to visit.
According to Burningham, there is no better way to get to know the Pacific Northwest city than through a beer-fueled bike adventure: “Portland has 51 breweries within city limits, more than any other city in the world, which means there’s plenty of beer being made in every corner of town,” said Burningham to Eco Salon.
In the book, Burningham dishes insider info on rare bottles and secret stashes as well. Rather than creating a guide for tourists, she says her real intention was to offer a general survey of the city according to what locals love best. Award-winning brewer Deschutes Brewery is among the spots featured along a bike path.
