Nestlé Had Naked Baristas Serve Coffee at a Shop in NYC

By

Nestlé’s latest campaign has caused quite a stir in NYC. On April 24, baristas employed by Nestlé took over Irving Farm Coffee Roasters shop on the Lower East Side and served customers while wearing nothing but body paint.

Watching naked people make coffee sure is our preferred way to wake up in the morning.

Nestle and the marketing agency behind the campaign, 360i, filmed customer reactions to being served lattes and macchiatos by naked people. Check out the video above, which was just pushed out via the company’s digital channels this week.

“This is, like, the best Friday I’ve had in a long time,” said one unsuspecting customer who walked up to the naked baristas. Another inquired, “Can I see your bum?”

The nude baristas were employed to promote Nestlé’s Coffee-Mate Natural Bliss creamer; the brand’s marketers hope to “turn heads on social media with [the] au naturel strategy that’s slightly skewed toward millennial consumers,” according to AdWeekAside from the naked baristas, painted actors were also employed to sit in the “nude” among the customers in the cafe.

Pierre Lipton, chief creative officer at 360i, tells Adweek, “The New Yorkers were more shocked that the coffee was free than by the naked people making it.” Classic New York.

In related news, there are now painted, nude women in Times Square taking pictures with kids alongside the Buzz Lightyears and Ironmans.

Maybe this is a return to the free love and natural vibes of the ’60s? One can only hope.
